The vampires are a part of Vida's progeny as the offspring of the true ancestor;[1][2] The elder twin[?] born to Vida and Zakkart. They live in societies that are strict vertical-hierarchies, with social classes primarily divided by three types: Pure-breed, Noble-born and Subordinate.[1]

As Vida's descendants, they possess both race titles like monsters[?] and jobs like humans. Although technically not monsters, they are categorized and treated as such by many nations and societies.[1]

Appearance[]

Their appearances are mostly the same as the races they originally were, such as Humans, Elves and Dwarves, but their pupils are crimson and they possess long fangs. Vampires also stop aging upon turning, as they have unlimited lifespans.[?]

Abilities[]

Vampires who have spent their never-ending lifespan on improving themselves diligently are more fearsome than Dragons. The Adventurers' Guild recommends that adventurers report any sightings of Vampires to the Guild rather than try to defeat them on their own.[1]

They categorise Subordinates as Rank 3 at minimum, while Noble-born as Rank 7 or above, although there are large individual differences. The majority reports to the Adventurers' Guild are on Subordinate Vampires; encounters with Noble-born Vampires are very rarely reported.[1]

Weaknesses[]

An universal weakness shared by all vampires are sunlight, silver and light-attribute magic attacks. No Status Effect Resistance skill can offer them any defense against these.[3] Wounds cut by a tool made of silver or a light attribute magic sword heal slower than other flesh wounds.[4] Depending on their family and the evil god they worship, they may possess additional weaknesses, such as not being able to enter buildings they are not invited into, and weaknesses to garlic and running water.[?]

Their weakness against silver was probably inherited through Zakkart's heritage, since all undead have always been weak against silver.[1] Vampires are also unable to acquire the Silver Resistance skill.[3]

Their critical weakness against sunlight and light is likely because their very existence angers the god of light.[1] Normally, vampires cover themselves with a thick coat or a full plate armor to prevent sunlight from reaching their skin. If a vampire is exposed to sunlight, their skin will begin to burn and can emit white smoke. Furthermore, they are unable to acquire the sunlight resistance skill,[3] with Valen being a rare exception.[?]

A subordinate vampire can be killed by destroying their hearts[5] or decapitation.[4]

Reproduction[]

Vampires are able to reproduce with other species, which result in the birth of a dhampir. They can also increase their population by giving their own blood to members of other races Humans, Elves and Dwarves, in order to transform them into Vampires.[?]

Pure-breed Vampires and Noble-born Vampires are capable of creating other Noble-born Vampires or Subordinate Vampires, while Subordinate Vampires generally cannot turn others into Vampires.[?]

There are no Vampire civilians, but they do not lose the skills that they possessed before becoming Vampires, so they can carry out their lives in human society as long as they are not exposed to sunlight.[?]

Incidentally, the Vampire transformation ritual is possible for members of Vida’s other races, but the side effects are so drastic that it apparently only succeeds for one in ten individuals.[?]

Blood Oath[]

Those who are inducted by a Noble-born or Pure-breed vampire will exchange blood to produce a Master-Servant Bond, which usually occurs during the conversion from human to Vampire. It is unknown if Vida's Servants perform these rites, but Hihiryushukaka's faction has performed this to produce an army.[?]

Temperament[]

Vampires who worship the evil gods of the Demon King's army often have pompous personalities, treating races with short lifespans with arrogance. Many of them are cunning, cruel, ruthless and inhuman. This is not the case for vampires who still worship Vida. In fact, virtuous vampires are seen from time to time.[?]

Culture[]

Their communities are built and managed according to a strict vertical hierarchy of Pure-breed Vampires, Noble-born Vampires and Subordinate Vampires.[1]

They are generally regarded not as people but monsters, beings that oppose the gods. In human society, they are targeted to be exterminated. But they have spread their roots in the underworld, and there are many examples in the past of clergymen loudly advocating for Vampire extermination while actually being spies for the Vampires.[?]

Vampires enjoy bloodsucking, but they can also consume normal food. However, if they go long periods without ingesting blood, their health deteriorates and it is said that they eventually die. However, it seems that monster or animal blood is sufficient for them to maintain themselves, so there are almost no cases where a Vampire has actually died from this. It is said that they like the fresh blood of virgins, but their preferences vary from individual to individual, and in the past, there have even been Vampires who prefer the blood of middle-aged men who smoke tobacco. According to them, the bitterness in the blood becomes addictive.[?]

Perhaps for this reason, those who become Vampires experience a decline in their sexual desire, which is replaced by a desire to suck blood. However, it does not disappear completely, so Dhampirs are seen from time to time.[?]

However, it is difficult to imagine that this mode of life is what Vida wanted for the Vampire race that she created. In fact, it is possible for Vampires to leave offspring behind in the same way as any other living creature. Given this fact, Vida’s believers insist that Vida wanted to add something more to the Vampires, of which only the Vampire founder and the Pure-breed Vampires existed at the time, but before she could, she was defeated by Alda, the god of law and fate, and the champion Bellwood.[?]

The Pure-breed Vampire race has been divided in multiple different factions according to who they worship and serve. These being:

Vida's Faction[]

Main article: Vida's Faction

The warhammer's handle are still inhabited by vampires who follow the goddess Vida. Though they are an overall small population, many are surviving Pure-breeds. According to some rumours, some even fought alongside the True Ancestor against Alda and the champions 100 000 years ago. They readily accept dhampirs as Vida's children without any shame, despite their mixed blood.[8]

Several Pure-breed Vampires followed Vida and are currently still living near her temple, as she recuperates from the war with Alda, south of the Boundary Mountain Range. They have a little interaction with the nations in the Boundary Mountain Range But it is believe they are aware of changes in the outside world. It and Hihiryushukaka's Faction is Very wearing of the Pure-breed Vampires followed Vida as they may be a Far stronger (This is not a Confirm)[?]

Background[]

In Lambda, Vampires were divided into four different categories.[9]

  1. First, there was the Vampire born between Vida and the Undead hero Zakkart, who had long since perished and had his name forgotten, the【True Ancestor】.[9]
  2. The ones who had directly received the blessing from the True Ancestor or those who were his direct descendants were known as【Pure-Breeds】(originally human and others who worshipped Vida, was turned into Pure-breed Vampire by the Vampires’ True Ancestor).[9]
  3. Those descended from the Pure-Breeds with Vampire blood that had thinned over the generations were known as the【Noble-born】.[9]
  4. And finally, those given the blood by the Pure-Breeds and Noble-born and taken as servants did not inherit the Vampires’ magical abilities such as their charming gaze; they inherited only their physical abilities such as their superhuman strength and regenerative capabilities. They were known as the【Subordinates】.[9]

Generally, the closer a Vampire was related to the True Ancestor, the stronger their powers were. But Vampires had considerable individual differences, so some Subordinates who were even more powerful than Noble-born Vampires also existed.[9]

In the current age, Vampires were also divided into two factions. There were the conservatives who continued to believe in Vida, who had been defeated by Alda, and the extremists who had converted to follow evil gods. The latter overwhelmingly outnumbered the former.[9]

According to Alda's monologue, vampires are a race created by Vida to assist her reincarnation system. This is probably one of the reasons why Vandalieu was born into the Vampire bloodline.[10][11]

Trivia[]

  • Vampires seem to deem it a rule to only drink blood from a person's neck, and considers it shameless to drink it from a person's fingertip.[12]
  • Vampires consider licking blood from a seeping wound as a form of teasing.[?]
  • The Blood Oath is a very common theme with Vampires in other stories, as there would be no other reason for a creature who can live forever to want to perform the rites on another person to live forever without them being their unconditional servant.[?]
  • Valen was a subordinate vampire with the special ability of sunlight resistance.[13]
