Death-attribute magic

Magic that can only be learned by those who inherently have no affinity for any attribute of magic. It might be more appropriate to say that such people are born without an affinity for any other attribute. It cannot be gained by those who have no inherent affinity for any attribute due to a curse.

It is an attribute for which nobody in either Origin or Lambda possesses, other than Vandalieu, and there are no past examples, either.

However, it is apparently partially similar to the special abilities wielded by the Demon King Guduranis.

·         Danger Sense: Death

o   Skill Requirement: Minimal

o   Mana requirement: Minimal

A spell that allows detection of danger for the caster and those near the caster. This spell not only detects malice, ill will and killing intent towards the caster, it also detects direct danger, such as poison in the caster’s cup or bombs planted near the caster. The spell also reacts to indirect danger, such as the risk of a stray bullet from a professional hitman who is aiming for the person walking in front of the caster.

As it detects sources of danger no matter how far away they are, it is a useful spell.

However, it does not react to dangers that do not lead to death. If there was a young prankster sneaking up on the caster with the intent to throw a cream pie on his head, this spell would not react.

And as for the function of detecting death for those other than the caster, it does not function perfectly unless they are near the caster.

·         Sterilization

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

A spell that kills bacteria, viruses and fungi within a target space. The area of effect can be increased by using more Mana to cast the spell. It can also be used to target a certain type of microorganism (Such as sterilizing only the influenza viruses in a sake brewery without affecting the kouji*).

TLN*: Mold used for fermentation.

It is also possible to target microorganisms in corpses and such, but microorganisms inside the bodies of living creatures cannot be targeted. If the caster is able to somehow fuse with that organism or directly examine the inside of its body, then it becomes possible.

Also, this spell does not function sufficiently to kill fungi and mold that have become monsters; it merely weakens their functions.

·         Bug Killer

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

A spell with Sterilization’s effects limited to bugs. It kills creatures that the caster recognizes as bugs.

Vandalieu considers pill bugs and woodlice to be like crustaceans, so he cannot kill them.

Like Sterilization, this spell is unable to kill bugs inside living creatures. For it to work, the caster must use a method to either directly examine the inside of the body or to fuse with the creature itself. However, it can kill bugs visible from outside the body (such as parasites in the mucus membranes of the eyeballs).

Also like Sterilization, this spell is ineffective against bugs that have turned into monsters. However, it does cause them discomfort, so it can ward them off.

·         Undead Transformation

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: High

A spell that makes spirits possess corpses and inanimate objects to turn them into Undead-type monsters. The type of monster created depends on the condition of the spirits, the object they are possessing and the amount of Mana used in the spell.

There is no guarantee that the resulting Undead will be obedient to the caster, but those created by Vandalieu obey him due to the effects of Death-Attribute Charm.

·         Golem Transformation

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: High

A spell that makes spirits possess inanimate objects to turn them into Golem-type monsters.

As they are actually Undead that possess inorganic bodies instead of corpses, anti-Undead light-attribute spells are effective on them.

In addition, the changing of the Golems’ shapes comes from the Golem Transmutation skill, so the shapes of the Golems cannot be manipulated with this spell alone.

·         Demon Fire

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

A spell that produces a blue-white flame that absorbs heat from its surroundings. It can be made to float in the air to provide illumination. Additionally,  it can be used for cooling objects down.

Touching it will not cause frostbite immediately, but it is about as cold as a household freezer, so touching it for long periods of time would be dangerous.

Nothing is actually burning, so it is not extinguished if water is poured over it or it is submerged.

·         Heat Leech

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

A spell that leeches heat energy from its target. It can be used for things like extinguishing fires. It cannot directly leech heat from living things.

The leeched heat energy simply disappears, so it is impossible to use that energy for something else.

·         Bloodshed Enhancement

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

An enhancement spell that can be cast on weapons and bodies, increasing attack power against living things (things with Vitality displayed in their Status).

As it is specialized for fighting organisms, it does not produce any effects against corpses or inanimate obstacles.

·         Energy Absorption

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

An enchantment spell that absorbs attack power external to the enchanted object. Kinetic, heat, electrical, Mana – it absorbs any kind of energy. Because of this, it enhances defense against both physical and magical attacks.

However, it is powerless against poison and any disease that isn’t accompanied by Mana. In addition, it also absorbs light energy, so it has the weakness of causing blindness if cast on the eyeballs. But this weakness is not a problem for those with the Dark Vision skill.

·         Disinfect, Detoxification

o   Skill Requirement: Medium

o   Mana requirement: Depends on the strength of the poison

Spells that neutralizes the toxicity of a substance. These spells differ from an antidote because it targets the poison itself, allowing it to neutralize the poison before it enters the body of a living creature.

Disinfect can only target inanimate objects. With this spell, cooked onions are harmless for a dog, honey is harmless for a baby and the deadly poison coating an assassin’s blade is harmless to living people.

In contrast, Detoxification can also target living creatures. It can neutralize the toxins secreted by living pufferfish, venomous snakes and microorganisms that cause illness.

However, it does not stop the venom production of creatures like pufferfish or snakes, so if they are left alone for long enough, they create more venom and return to normal.

·         Deodorization

o   Skill Requirement: Medium

o   Mana requirement: Depends on the strength of the poison

A spell that neutralizes odors within a target area of effect. It can neutralize any odor no matter how unpleasant it is, but any new odors released in the target area after the spell is cast can be smelled as normal.

This includes examples such as fresh sweat being produced and decomposition continuing after the spell is cast.

·         Detect Life

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

A spell that detects life within a certain area. It reacts weakly to Undead and artificial organisms such as Golems, and it is completely unable to detect objects that do not have Vitality displayed in their status.

·         Preservation

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Depends on the size of the target

A spell that preserves the freshness of its target. It prevents the oxidation, desiccation and decomposition of its target. Items with this spell cast on them can be dried in the sun while maintaining the freshness of their organic components.

However, these items do not become indestructible, so it is still possible to burn items with this spell cast on them using fire.

Also, living creatures cannot be targeted by this spell, so it does not prevent aging. It does prevent hair from becoming disheveled, however.

·         Freshness Restoration

o   Skill Requirement: Medium

o   Mana requirement: Depends on the state of freshness that is being restored

A spell that restores the freshness of a target. It restores decomposed organic substances to their original state, but it does not restore damage caused by decomposition.

Also, if this spell is used on a mummy, it has no effect unless water is applied at the same time.

If this is used on fermented food, it reverses the fermentation process.

·         Decomposition, Fermentation

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Depends on the degree of decomposition and fermentation

Spells that decompose or ferment their target. On Earth and in Origin, there are no strict differences between the phenomena of decomposition and fermentation other than that fermentation is useful to humans, so strictly speaking, these two are essentially the same spell.

The difference is that Decomposition has no limits to the time duration and effect of the decomposition it causes on its target, while Fermentation limits the duration of its effect to a point where it results in something that is useful to humans.

If Decomposition is used on a barrel of fresh miso, unless the duration is limited, even the barrel itself will decompose and disintegrate, never mind the soya beans. But no matter how long Fermentation is cast on the same barrel of fresh miso, the resulting product will be fermented miso.

Because of this, the use of Fermentation is limited to things like creating fermented foods from fresh ingredients and compost from waste. However, if used on ingredients for sake, the environment must be adjusted accordingly and limits must be placed, otherwise, vinegar will be produced.

Also, Decomposition has no effects on living creatures and inanimate objects that do not decompose.

·         Maturation

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

The Fermentation spell with further limitations.

It is a spell that allows meat, fish, fruit and vegetables to ripen without rotting.

·         Aging, Inanimate Aging

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Medium

Spells that cause dramatic aging in their target. However, its effects only last as long as the spell is being used, and only the body part in contact with the caster is designated as the target. The caster can cause aging in the whole of a target’s skin by touching one part of the skin, but it is impossible to cause aging in bones or the brain.

The only difference between Aging and Inanimate Aging is whether the target is living or not.

Also, Aging does not cause growth, so using it on a child would simply cause the child to age while maintaining a child’s constitution.

Inanimate Aging has uses such as making dried kombu.

·         Spirit Form Transformation

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Medium

A spell that turns the caster’s flesh into spirit form. It is possible to select which parts are turned into spirit form, so the caster can use it on his whole body or just his arms. The transformed parts become semi-transparent, but they remain visible to the naked eye even to those without specialized Jobs such as Spiritualist.

Body parts under the effect of this spell are unaffected by physical forces and can pass through physical objects. In order to harm body parts under the effect of this spell, either martial skills or magic must be cast, or weapons made of silver or magical metals such as Mythril must be used.

Also, because the changing shape of spirit form is fundamentally manipulating the original part, willingly breaking down the original shape (for example, turning arms into tentacles and branching them out, or splitting heads) carries the risk of causing mental damage, memory loss or madness.

This problem does not apply to those who have already had the above damage dealt to them.

·         Youth Transformation

o   Skill Requirement: High

o   Mana requirement: High

A spell that absorbs the ‘aging’ of the target, causing a reversal of aging. Only the parts in contact with the caster are designated as targets, so in order to reverse aging in the entire body, the caster must be in contact with not only the target’s skin but also the bones, organs and nerves.

If age is continuously reversed in the organs and nerves, one would be theoretically immortal, becoming able to live hundreds or thousands of years.

However, this spell does not reverse time, so it does not cause memory loss or the reverting of the target’s personality to that of a child. There are cases where it improves the target’s ability to remember things, causing to remember things of the past that they had forgotten, and growth due to the age reversal in the bones and cartilage.

·         Poison, Deadly Poison, Industrial Poison

o   Skill Requirement: Low-high

o   Mana requirement: Low-high

Spells that create poison. They can create poisonous compounds at the fingertips or apply deadly poison to objects in contact with the caster.

Though they have different names, the only difference between them is the degree of toxicity of the poisons they produce. The difficulty of casting the spells and the amount of Mana required depend on the toxicity and complexity of the poison’s effects.

Also, only poisonous substances known to the caster can be created. Vandalieu uses his scientific knowledge from Earth and his experiences in Origin to create them.

These skills can also be used to create monster toxins that can be used to create medicine, as well as things like anesthetics, sleeping drugs, muscle relaxants and muscle-strengthening drugs.

·         Disease, Deadly Disease, Industrial Disease

o   Skill Requirement: Low-high

o   Mana requirement: Low-high

These spells create bacteria and viruses that cause disease. It generates microorganisms at the fingertips and on objects in contact with the caster.

The difficulty in casting the spells and the amount of Mana required depends on the disease’s infectious capacity, targets, mortality rate and symptoms.

These factors cannot all be controlled freely; trial-and-error research is required unless creating a known pathogen. Also, accurate medical knowledge is required.

Vandalieu gained knowledge in Origin, where science is more advanced than on Earth, and was infected with many different fatal diseases, so he is able to produce new diseases even without a specialized experimental facility.

·         Lemure Creation

o   Skill Requirement: Medium

o   Mana requirement: Medium

This spell creates Familiars with the appearance of mostly-transparent skulls. They can fly and, as they do not physically exist, they move silently unless the Materialization spell is used.

The caster can borrow their vision and other senses, and issue orders to them even from afar.

Also, Lemures can be given an order to self-destruct. When they obey this order, they release a powerful killing intent that triggers the target’s survival instincts.

They have less self-awareness than Familiars created through other attributes of magic, so they are almost completely unable to make their own decisions.

Incidentally, the spell used to create Familiars of other attributes of magic is named Familiar Creation. The reason this spell’s name is different is because Vandalieu is unable to make any Familiars other than Lemures.

·         Magic Absorption Barrier

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Small-great

A spell that creates a black, fog-like barrier that absorbs Mana. When the caster is surrounded by this barrier, no one other than the caster is able to release Mana outside of his body.

Also, if the caster surrounds his own body with this barrier, it renders magical attacks completely ineffective.

Its weakness is that it does not block physical objects at all and that the barrier can be escaped by moving faster than the fog can keep up.

For example, if a rock is thrown at the barrier with Telekinesis, the barrier will cancel Telekinesis but not stop the rock that has already been thrown.

This barrier is also unable to stop martial skills that work through passing Mana through the inside of the body or a weapon.

The amount of Mana that can be absorbed by the barrier is proportional to the amount of Mana the caster used to create it.

·         Impact-Negating Barrier

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Small-great

A spell that creates a barrier that absorbs every kind of energy, including kinetic energy, other than Mana. This spell is cast with the caster at its center; none other than the caster can move inside it freely.

It is a physical version of the Mana Absorption Barrier, but since it cannot be cast on targets other than the caster himself, it is a defense-specialized spell.

However, splitting the caster’s arms from his main body, controlling them with Long-distance Control and casting the barrier around the arms is possible.

·         Withering

o   Skill Requirement: Medium

o   Mana requirement: Medium

A spell that causes damage by evaporating the water content in a target. Whether this damage is fatal or not depends on the target’s Vitality, magical defense, biology and whether it can recover its water content immediately or not. However, the attack power of this spell is low; a high skill level and thousands of Mana are required to perform feats like instantly mummifying a person.

The Vitality loss caused by this spell cannot be recovered through natural healing measures. Water content must be replenished. Though the spell’s effects are decreased when used on already-dead bodies, it can be used on inorganic substances.

It can be used to instantly turn fresh fish into dried fish or dry up muddy roads.

·         Corpse Healing

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Depends on the damage being healed

A healing spell for Undead and corpses. Missing parts can be replaced with substitute parts.

It is impossible to resurrect the dead with this spell, and if there are too many damaged parts, this spell cannot repair them.

Also, there are some species that cannot be repaired. For example, the heads of headless knights.

·         Healing Negation

o   Skill Requirement: High

o   Mana requirement: Medium-great

A spell that negates Vitality-restoring effects of things such as the target’s natural healing ability, Regeneration-type skills, spells and items.

This spell cannot be cast unless the target is nearby. The stronger the healing power of the method that the target is trying to use to heal is, the more Mana is required. However, casting this spell on targets that have already sustained a wound often results in death due to blood loss.

But as the target must be nearby (within two meters), it is not a very practical spell.

·         Visualization

o   Skill Requirement: Medium

o   Mana requirement: Low

A spell developed by Vandalieu after being reincarnated in Lambda. It allows spirits that are normally invisible and inaudible to be seen and heard by others.

However, the spirits still cannot be touched.

·         Materialization

o   Skill Requirement: Medium

o   Mana requirement: High

A spell developed by Vandalieu after being reincarnated in Lambda. It allows materialization of spirits by pouring Mana into them. However, they are still spirits, so they don’t eat and the Vitality on their Status is still zero. Physical attacks are also still ineffective.

Spirits cannot use skills and such from when they were alive. Also, their Mana falls a little short of the average person.

In addition, this spell can be used to materialize ghosts and evil spirits that do not normally have physical forms. The spell can also be used to create an incarnation of Familiar Spirits, heroic spirits and even gods if the target is willing.

However, as the required amount of Mana goes from several thousand to several hundred million to do so, this isn’t realistic for anyone other than Vandalieu.

Incidentally, the Materialization skill is something that can only be used on the owner of the skill; it is something separate from this spell.

·         Erase Presence

o   Skill Requirement: Low

o   Mana requirement: Low

A spell that Vandalieu is constantly using unconsciously. It erases the presence of a target.

As it erases things like bloodthirst, animosity and heroic presence, it makes the target’s presence completely imperceptible. Those casting this skill likely appear as dreams or ghosts that can be seen during the day.

But as Vandalieu’s Death-Attribute Charm overcomes the effects of this spell, he is noticed by those affected by Death-Attribute Charm.

·         Death Bullet

o   Skill Requirement: Medium

o   Mana requirement: High

Death-attribute projectiles that take the Vitality from their target. They appear to be black, fingertip-sized spheres, so they do not look very powerful. However, they directly rob the Vitality of those they come into contact with, even through armor and shields.

As one of the death attribute’s few offensive spells, this spell has excellent projectile speed and firing distance.

Mental Corruption】

This is a skill that represents mental derangement, the depth of one’s trauma and the severity of phobias. It also functions as a skill that protects one’s mind from the effects of poison, curse and magic.

However, many organizations that encourage the acquisition of this skill are connected to underground organizations or are underground organizations themselves. In urban areas, this skill is considered to be an illness, and specialized facilities exist to treat it.

Many individuals who possess this skill are abnormal sadists and murderers, soldiers and adventurers who have experienced horrific battles and assassins who have become unable to feel discomfort and guilt when killing people. However, as there are also many artists and inventors who possessed the skill and have left behind their names and deeds in history books, there are few cases where one is imprisoned simply for possessing the skill.

Skill explanation:

Grotesque Mind】

A skill that represents having a different mental structure from normal people. Spells, special abilities and drugs that affect the mind are completely ineffective against those who possess this skill.

But this skill doesn’t mean that the person possessing it is emotionless.

Among people, Vandalieu is the only one to possess this unique skill. A portion of beings that came from other worlds, such as evil gods, as well as those extraordinarily similar to them, also possess this skill.

Mental Encroachment

A skill that allows the user to affect the mind and alter the personality, perceptions and memories of the target. In order to use it, some kind of communication, such as direct contact, conversation or eye contact, is required.

Using this skill through indirect methods, such as having the target read a written letter or hear a recorded voice, is also possible.

In Buburdura’s case, the condition for the skill’s activation was the target reading the pages of the forbidden tome that was his body.

Vandalieu is currently unable to use this skill against living people like Buburdura, who could directly enter the target’s mind and soul to conduct his brainwashing.

However, he is able to exert tremendous effects on the dead.

Body Expansion】

A skill that allows the user to stretch or shrink a part of the body or the entire body. The distance the body part can be stretched depends on the level.

Level 1 in the skill allows extension to twice the original body part’s length; level 2 allows four times the original length and level 3 allows eight times.

Though the body parts can stretch and shrink, they do not gain rubber-like properties.

There are no people who possess this skill.

Coordination

When owners of this skill cooperate, their efficiency and effectiveness is greater. When building something, they make fewer mistakes and their pace of work is faster, and in battle, their offensive and defensive abilities are increased.

The effectiveness of the skill depends on the levels of the skill and the number of individuals that possess the skill.

It is less common for adventurers that operate in small groups to obtain this skill, and more common for soldiers and construction workers that work together in larger numbers.

In the case of monsters, they cannot gain this skill even if they work in large numbers unless they possess a sense of companionship and unity with each other, so Goblins and Orcs cannot gain this skill. Monsters such as Kobolds, Ghouls and wolf-type monsters often possess this skill.

Scream】

A skill that produces effects through an emitted sound. Bats’ ability to see things through their cries and special sense of hearing (or at least, this is how it is commonly interpreted in Lambda, though it is actually sonar), the effects of Mandragoras’ cries and Banshees’ screams come from this skill.

Because Vandalieu uses this skill simultaneously alongside the Soul Break and Mental Encroachment skills, in addition to dealing damage to Mana and the sense of hearing in a wide radius, he is also able to perform an attack that causes its victims to die a most terrible death in insanity if they lose the mental battle with themselves.

It can also simply be used to make one’s voice travel further, without losing any clarity. This allows the user to perform a speech (without the need for a megaphone or microphone).

Automatic Mana Recovery】,【Increased Mana Recovery Rate】

Those with the Automatic Mana Recovery skill recover Mana automatically no matter what they are doing... When they are resting, exercising or even in the middle of reciting the incantation for a spell.

The Increased Mana Recovery Rate skill is a skill that increases the rate at which Mana recovers while resting.

Their names are similar, but they are separate skills.

Automatic Mana Recovery restores a fixed percentage of the skill owner’s total Mana pool, while Increased Mana Recovery Rate reduces the amount of time required for Mana to recover regardless of the amount of Mana that needs to be recovered. Thus, those with large Mana pools often desire the Automatic Mana Recovery skill.

However, the Automatic Mana Recovery skill has the flaw of being difficult to acquire, and even after acquiring it, it requires training by expending all available Mana to increase the total Mana pool. In addition, the rate of natural Mana recovery is dependent on one’s health and mental condition, but many mages are aware that sleeping is a way of drastically increasing it, so they tend to be fixated on the environment in which they sleep and the number of hours they sleep.

The fact that well-known mages carry pillows for traveling is even detailed in their biographies.

Titles

Titles are acquired when an influential individual and many other people recognize you as bearing that title. It is also known as a Written Name, Alias or Degree.

The effects of a Title depends on the reason the Title has been bestowed on the individual and the meaning of the Title, granting new related skills or increasing the levels of existing ones and strengthening their effects.

【Ghoul King】

This Title increases the effects of the【Strengthen Followers】and【Death-Attribute Charm】skills on Ghouls. Also, it increases the level of the【Strengthen Followers】skill and treats the value of the number of Ghouls under its influence as double when calculating other effects.

【Eclipse King】

The condition for acquiring this Title is to become the King of Talosheim while becoming known as the Eclipse King rather than as the Sun King, and being acknowledged as such by over ninety percent of its inhabitants.

Its main effect is that the Strengthen Followers skill will affect all citizens ruled by the Eclipse King (Even if they are humans, Elves or Dwarves).

In addition, it makes it possible for races without the Night Vision skill can gain the Night Vision skill, and those without the Dark Vision skill to gain the Dark Vision skill.

Finally, it makes it possible for those with a weakness to sunlight or moonlight to gain skills with resistance against them.

Second Coming of the Demon King】

A Title that indicates the second coming of the Demon King. One must not only be recognized as such, but also be able to perform the same feats as the Demon King Guduranis, in order to gain this Title. For example, breaking souls, generating new races of monsters and creating Dungeons. It is also possible to gain this Title by taking in, absorbing or being taken in by a part of the Demon King.

Those who acquire this Title gain bonuses to various techniques that are considered forbidden techniques and evil knowledge, as well as to the aforementioned acts that are part of the conditions of gaining the Title.

The ability of creating and altering new races of monsters receives a particularly large bonus. Princess Levia and her companions becoming a Flame Ghost and Fire Ghosts is another example of this.

However, this does not allow unconditional creation and alteration of new monsters; there are fine conditions and affinities for this that need to be considered.

Taboo Name

When beings who possess a certain amount of influence acknowledge someone while taking care not to give that person a Title, that person gains this Title.

In Vandalieu’s case, he gained this Title because Alda and his subordinates, Marshukzarl, the Emperor of the Amid Empire, and the three Pure-breed Vampires were careful to not give Vandalieu a Title.

It doesn’t have any concrete effects, but it shows that one is feared at least on a national level, and possibly even feared by the gods.

Because of this, someone possessing this Title is often interpreted as that person being an extremely dangerous individual.

When those who were being careful not to allow the bearer of this Title to gain a Title stop doing so, and a suitable Title is given, this Title disappears.

Guardian of the Cultivation Villages

A Title that one can acquire by saving inhabitants of cultivation villages and solving their problems, causing over ninety percent of the villagers to acknowledge him.

Cultivation projects involving someone who possesses this Title have a much greater chance of success. Also, when danger approaches the cultivation villages, it becomes likely that the person with this Title will happen to be present and deal with it.

There are Titles with similar effects, such as ‘Goddess of Cultivated Land’ and ‘Savior of Cultivated Land.’

【Scaled King】

A Title bestowed by a god to the leader of the Lizardmen who rule over the great marshlands in the southern reaches of the Bahn Gaia continent that is separated from the rest of the continent by the Boundary Mountain Range.

As the Title suggests, it represents a king who possess scales, granting a charisma that is effective against Lizardmen and other scaled monsters such as reptilian monsters and Dragons. (This does not include fish-type monsters.)

It also normally has the effect of making the scales of the Title’s possessor more beautiful, but this effect is adapted when the Title is possessed by someone without scales.

Tentacle King

A Title that is bestowed by an evil god of tentacles such as Merrebeveil, the Evil God of Slime and Tentacles. It can also be acquired by those with tentacles who have been acknowledged as worthy of being a king (or queen), and those who are served by many races of people or monsters that possess tentacles.

Historically, this Title has mostly been possessed by those who possessed tentacles themselves. The known exceptions are a legendary tamer who tamed a Kraken, and the first king of the Sauron Kingdom.

It has the specific effect of providing an ability to display charismatic qualities to races of monsters and people who possess tentacles. It allows such races to become followers (requires the Strengthen Followers skill). It also strengthens the Title holder’s tentacles, and enhances skill bonuses and effects when they are used.

Incidentally, the world that the Demon King Guduranis had originally come from was a world where intelligent life-forms with tentacles thrived. Because of this, there had been numerous gods of tentacles.

Champion

A Title that can be obtained by someone who has come from another world (whether summoned, transferred by chance or reincarnated) once they are acknowledged by the gods and a large number of people (at least ten thousand).

This Title was gained by Zakkart and Bellwood who had been summoned by the gods from the foreign world of Earth, but they acquired this Title immediately as they were people summoned by the gods to begin with and praised by the people as “champions summoned by the gods” from the moment they came into the world.

This Title has effects such as improving the effects of any equipped Artifacts and possessed Unique Skills, lowering the difficulty of awakening superior Skills – effects that are meaningless unless one is a being fit to be called a champion.

Incidentally, those who were born and raised in this world such as the ‘Thunderclap’ Schneider and the ‘Blue-flamed Sword’ Heinz cannot acquire this Title no matter how much they are acknowledged by the gods and people.

In the case of Vandalieu, who was reincarnated in this world with the memories of his previous lives intact, Fidirg and Merrebeveil alone were not enough to fulfill the conditions of acquiring this Title, but he acquired it after the gods and people within the Boundary Mountain range acknowledged him.

【Strengthen Followers】

This skill increases the attribute values of individuals belonging to a race under the skill bearer’s influence. It also has the effect of increasing fertility and the rate at which the offspring of affected individuals develop.

This skill’s level increases as the number of followers increases. The skill is level 1 below a hundred followers, level 2 at two hundred followers and level 3 at five hundred followers.

The humans, elves and dwarves that are designated as people in the Amid Empire cannot acquire this skill, but the new races created by Vida can acquire it in rare cases. However, the majority of creatures that possess this skill are monsters such as Goblin Kings.

【Forced job changes】

This is a special treatment for criminals and those who have fallen into slavery. Though it doesn’t cause the loss of already-learned skills, the previous job no longer has an effect on status and can no longer level up.

This is clearly displayed when one’s status is checked at facilities such as Guilds, so it acts as a way to prevent slaves from escaping.

However, this was a practice used over two hundred years ago. In modern times, it has become more commonplace to put collars on slaves that only the owner is able to remove.

【Status Effect Resistance】

This is a skill that provides resistance against not only poison, illnesses and curses, but also fatigue, stress, sleep, hunger, asphyxia, pain and any other condition that causes the skill’s owner to not be in peak form. However, it does not provide resistance against the effects of having expended too much Mana or wounds caused by taking damage.

Those with a high level in this skill can always be in peak form despite any negative effects they may be under. However, it does not nullify the negative effects, so there is a limit to this skill’s effect.

Those who possess this skill are Centaurs, Titans, Drakonids, Demons and others of the races created by Vida, so most who do possess it do so from birth.

After acquiring this skill, one can increase its level by experiencing things that affect his or her status.

However, it is difficult for one who does not possess this skill from birth to acquire it. The reason for this is that one would need to endure negative status effects for a certain amount of time.

According to the Adventurers’ Guild’s records, there are two ways to do this. One method is to come under the effects of poison and illness at the same time and endure that, and the other method is to acquire separate resistances for each and integrate them together to gain the Status Effect Resistance skill.

According to those records, there has never been a person who has survived the first method, and none have acquired the skill in less than ten years using the second method.

In addition, the effects of the【Mind Corruption】skill cannot be mitigated by this skill. This is because the status of one’s mind being corrupted is considered a normal status for that individual.

【Sword King Technique】

This is a superior version of the Swordsmanship skill. When the Swordsmanship skill reaches level 10 and continues to gain experience, there is a chance that it transforms into a superior version.

It has been confirmed that the superior versions of the Swordsmanship skill include the Holy Sword Technique, the Sword Emperor Technique, Sword God Technique and Magic Blade Technique.

As few possess these superior skills, it has not been accurately confirmed just how much they vary in their special characteristics and power and which skills are superior to the others.

It is said in the Amid Empire that the【Holy Sword God Technique】possessed by the legendary hero Bellwood is the greatest skill of them all, but that is for political and religious reasons – It is not even certain that Bellwood’s skill was named the【Holy Sword God Technique.】

Superior versions of other skills such as Spear Technique, Axe Technique and Unarmed Fighting Technique also exist; individuals who possess such skills are A-class at minimum.

【Golem Transmuter】

A Job that influences the Golem Transmutation skill and other skills that can be gained from that skill. It grants bonuses to a wide range of skills, but in exchange, the growth of Attribute Values is quite limited.

The requirement for acquiring this Job is to have a level 1 skill in Golem Transmutation, but there is currently not a single person or monster in Lambda other than Vandalieu who possesses this skill.

【Long-distance Control】

A skill that allows the user to continue to manipulate parts of the body that are separated from the main body, such as severed limbs.

It is mainly used by high-Rank Undead of races such as Skeletons, Zombies, Living Armors and Dullahans. On rare occasions, it can be possessed by monsters with tremendous Vitality.

As the level of the skill increases, the distance at which body parts can be controlled as well as the number of parts that can be controlled at a given time increase. Of course, there are no people who possess this skill. Also, there is no known method of training that would allow the acquisition of this skill.

【Axe Master】

A Job that can only be acquired after an individual reaches level 100 with the Axeman Job and possesses a level 6 or greater skill in Axe Technique.

The 'Strengthened Attribute Values when equipped with an axe skill’ is a perfect example of the skills specialized for the wielding of axes that can be gained with this Job.

This Job is essentially proof that those who have acquired the Job are first-rate fighters when wielding axes. They can easily become servants of noblemen or open their own Axe Technique dojo.

Adventurers possessing this Job are usually B-class.

Vassal Warrior】

Also known as Gladiator. The owners of this skill can be referred to in various ways, but this is a Job that can be acquired when one gains close-quarters combat skills while being in a slave-like social position, and the Job owner’s master grants permission for this Job-change. The slave-like social positioned is determined not by social structure or the Job owner’s mental state, but by a worn sign such as a subordinate’s collar or one engraved directly into the Job owner’s body such as a tattoo or brand that acts as proof of subordination.

The bonuses to skills are fundamentally the same as the Warrior Job, but it also grants a bonus to the acquisition of skills such as Surpass Limits, Robust Health, Enhanced Muscular Strength as well as Self-Enhancement: Subordination, a skill that increases Attribute Values when acting as a Subordinate to another individual.

But unlike the Warrior Job, there is no bonus for skills such as the Armor Technique skill, so it is not a Job suited for Shield-bearers.

【Soul Breaker

A Job that one who has broken a soul can acquire.

It grants a bonus to the acquisition of skills such as Soul Break, Spirit Form, Long-distance Control and Parallel Thought-Processing, and though it provides great growth in the Mana and Intelligence Attribute Values, growth in other Attribute Values are low.

The Job’s name may suggest that it is an offensive Job, but because one must possess enough power to break a soul to acquire this Job, it is a Job that simply provides support for Soul Break.

Venom Fist User

A Job one can acquire if he meets the Attribute Value requirements and possesses the Unarmed Fighting Technique skill at level 2, in addition to being knowledgeable in regards to various drugs, having learned their effects, being able to actually produce them and produce antidotes for them.

Because it requires accurate scientific knowledge, nobody in Lambda currently possesses this Job other than Vandalieu.

It becomes possible to acquire the Venom Secretion skill, which allows the secretion of various drugs from the fangs, tongue and nails of every limb, as well as an Enhanced Physical Ability skill that enhances the fangs, tongue and claws. It also provides a bonus to skills such as Unarmed Fighting Technique, making it a Job suited for fighting on the frontlines.

This Job makes it easier to increase Vitality, Stamina and Agility, while providing few increases to Mana and Intelligence.

Insect User

A Job that can be acquired after successfully taming a certain number of insectoid monsters. One must have the trust of the tamed insectoid monsters.

This Job provides bonuses to Vitality, Strength and Stamina. It also provides bonuses to skills that cannot normally be obtained such as Insect Binding Technique, Parallel Thought Processing, Long-distance Control and Thread Refining.

These are all skills that alter the skill owner’s mental state and make it difficult to maintain a normal level of sanity, so the Job grants the Mental Corruption skill and causes a gradual loss of sanity.

For those who possess different mental structures from ordinary people and those who have already lost their sanity, this is not a problem.

Materialization

This is a skill that materializes parts of the body that does not originally have physical form. It is mainly acquired by Astral-type monsters, spirits that have been contaminated with Mana, such as Ghosts and Specters.

The materialized spirit form becomes susceptible to physical damage, but it does not have flesh and blood, so the damage taken is still less than damage from silver or Magic Items.

It has a greater effect than the Spirit Form skill, causing one to be in a state closer to having a body of flesh, but as it allows damage from the aforementioned sources and adds limitations of forces such as gravity, it cannot be said to be superior to the Spirit Form skill.

Subordinate War Princess

A Job that can be acquired by a woman who has been born into nobility or previously held a certain social status, but is currently a subordinate to another person.

Depending on the nation, owning female warriors with this Job is a large symbol of status; it is not uncommon for nobles and royalty to trade them at high prices. Many harems contain multiple female slaves who possess (or forced to possess) this Job and act as guards.

This Job does provide bonuses to combat-related skills, but it also provides bonuses to the Allure, Seduction and Love-making skills.

In Eleanora’s case, the prerequisite of being “born into nobility” is fulfilled by the fact that she is a Noble-born Vampire.

Title explanation:

Holy Son of Vida】

This is a Title that indicates that the bearer is especially loved or acknowledged by Vida, the Goddess of Life and Love. In the past, only the founders of her new races such as Vampires or Dark Elves, or those she gave Divine Messages or trials, received this Title.

Because of this, such individuals are respected as saints by Vida’s followers and members of her races.

This Title increases the ability to understand Divine Messages from Vida, as well as providing a bonus to the Clergyman skill.

Normally, Life-Attribute Magic would receive a bonus as well, but Vandalieu does not have an affinity for the life attribute so he does not gain this bonus.

Mana Enlargement】

A skill that increases the total Mana pool by 10% for each level in the skill. It is a simple skill, yet its effect is enormous.

Many desire the skill, but it is said that the only ones who can acquire it are the companions of champions and the champions themselves.

Guidance: Demon Path

There is a path that one does not walk because they wish to, a path that is not a path. This is the skill of one who walks such a path for guiding those who walk on it with him.

Those who receive the blessings of this skill undergo drastic changes, increases in Rank and development in exchange for growing further and further away from the path of righteousness.

They are not evil; they are simply ‘different’ beings rather than being good or evil.

Ordinary people would think of the possessor of this skill and those who follow its guidance to be fearsome beings, be repulsed by them and the sight of them would appear to be total chaos.

It is a skill that transforms from Strengthen Followers after acquiring the Demon Guider Job, so the effects of the Strengthen Followers skill is included in full.

Demon Path Enticement

A skill that captivates those who already walk the demon path and those who have set foot upon it. A skill that beckons those who walk the path of righteousness to the demon path.

It is, so to speak, a devilish skill, and those charmed by it indulge themselves in the skill’s possessor as if they have fallen into addiction.

It is a skill that transforms from Death-Attribute Charm after acquiring the Demon Guider Job; the skill’s area of effect is increased and once under its effects, it is difficult to resist.

Abyss

A unique skill that represents that the skill owner is not one who peers into an abyss, but the abyss to be peered into.

The one who possesses this skill has no need to worry about becoming a monstrosity when fighting other monstrosities. That is something that the one fighting the skill’s possessor should fear.

Armor Tamer

A Tamer Job specialized in taming Living Armors. The prerequisite for the Job is that the tamed Living Armor equips itself and acts together with the wearer.

This is one of the inferior versions of the Undead Tamer Job.

Those with this Job gain bonuses to the acquisition of the Armor Technique, Coordination, Strengthen Subordinates and Strengthened Defense when equipped with ●● Armor (where ●● is metal or non-metal) skills.

Job explanation:

Cursed Spirit Swordsman

A Job that can be acquired by a swordsman who wields a sword that has become a Cursed Weapon. The prerequisite requirement is that the Cursed Weapon must be tamed.

This is one of the inferior versions of the Undead Tamer Job.

Those with this Job gain bonuses to the acquisition of the Swordsmanship, Coordination, Surpass Limits, Surpass Limits – Cursed Spirit Sword, Strengthen Subordinates and Strengthened Attack Power while equipped with a Cursed Spirit Sword skills.
